The Priesthood

The Priesthood

1 Sep – 15 Sep 2013

The Priesthood Series is an introduction to the high priestly ministry of every believer.

The New Covenant brought a fresh definition to the identity and function of believers of Christ: through the finished work of Calvary, those who believe are brought into the same position and ministry of Christ. Positionally, the believer is given the right of fellowship as the ‘firstborn son’ in the family of God. Functionally, the believer enjoys the ministry of that belonging to the high priestly ministry of Christ and as kings upon the earth.

Priests (kohen): These are those individuals that established the royal dominion of the Lord in the earth. They enjoyed the privilege to minister before the altar of God on behalf of the congregation. They received gifts from the people on behalf of the Lord. They had the right of access into the presence of and enjoyed all that He gave them.

Royal [high] priesthood is effectively realized when the believer reaches the age of spiritual maturity, referred to as ‘son’. Jesus’ ministry commenced when there was a divine recognition and declaration, ‘Thou art my son.’ The divine statement was preceded by the declaration of John the Baptist, ‘behold the lamb,’ a metaphoric description to the priestly ministry of the incarnate Christ.
